Keep it Simple.

“The Earth is what we all have in common.” -Wendell Berry

Here it is, Friday! You’re done with work for the week! Yay! Heading home to enjoy your weekend. Oh, Shoot! You forgot the laundry soap. No Biggie! Quick stop by Target and you’ll be on your way.

Well, here we are 2 hours later and you’re looking at baby clothes and you don’t even have a child…

How does this even happen..?

I wish i had the answer for this.. I don’t.

Something that helps me is looking at my surroundings and just being aware of everything around me. Take a gander at the laundry aisle for instance; it’s almost all plastic. No big deal right? Just recycle it when you’re done with it and get another one. Well that’s all fine and dandy, but plastics cannot be recycled infinitely.

Most plastics get recycled once, maybe twice. Then, that’s it. They’re on this planet forever. FOREVER. How crazy is that?! Plastics didn’t even become widely used until WWII, and now nearly half the plastics ever manufactured were made since the year 2000. Mind Blowing.

So, we lived just fine before the advent of plastics.. Why can’t we do it now?

I’m starting this blog to give my readers ideas on how they can live a little more simply. How they can cut back on their plastic usage, not only for the environment but their health. How to make simple projects at home, because let’s face it, we all work WAY too hard to be paying for a stupid label on a bottle. And hopefully, help differentiate between shit we don’t need and shit we can do ourselves.

  3. This makes me wish we had markets where things like soap were dispensed from large tanks into reusable containers.

    1. I’m 99% sure they have those in MPLS. We have them here in Bozeman. I’ll try and find a good dish soap recipe to share!

    2. Come to think of it, we already do have markets with some items available from dispensers. It be nice if it were more common.
